Description
My daughter is 19 years old and will be starting university in September. She always wanted to be a doctor from an early age, but confessed to me about 3 weeks ago that she has wanted to be a teacher for a while now. She was afraid to tell her father, and also afraid of her grandparents' reaction, as she thought they would be disappointed if she didn't want to become a doctor after all.
Now it's out, she has enrolled to study to become a teacher, and for the last 4 days she has had
completely inflamed tonsils and her whole throat is swollen. She has severe pain when talking and swallowing, sometimes she cries from the pain. Could it be that this is the healing phase now that she has finally dared to speak out about her new career plans? That's my theory anyway.
Best wishes from Switzerland, Barbara
Note from Björn Eybl
Yes, I think you're right. Not getting a chunk, not being allowed to examine the chunk (yourself) is the name of the conflict with the tonsils.
The teaching (desired) profession is the chunk for your girl. Now she has it and has found a solution. It would be interesting to know: Did she already have to deal with tonsils as a child? On what occasions? Is the issue of “free choice of profession” perhaps not yet fully resolved in the family (because your daughter reacted so strongly)?
